About

Hello there, I'm Anirudh (call me "Ani", pronounced a-knee) (he/him)! I'm a PhD student in the GC Theory group at MPIA, Heidelberg, with a particular interest in high-redshift galaxy evolution. I also love forward modeling to better compare numerical simulations with observational probes of gas, star formation, and stars. In this context, I study the kinematics of gas and stars in cosmological simulations such as IllustrisTNG and "VESTRAL", a new zoom-in simulation suite of dwarf galaxies in the first billion years.

Fun fact: My academic publications are actually "Ravishankar Anirudh" or "R. Anirudh" rather than my "full name" as my family name is 'fake' in a sense because it's just my dad's name! (See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_name#Tamil for a longer explanation)
