About

Hello there, I'm Ani (a-knee) (he/him)! I'm a PhD student in the GC Theory group at MPIA, Heidelberg, with a particular interest in high-redshift galaxy evolution. I also love forward modeling to better compare numerical simulations with observational probes of gas, star formation, and stars. In this context, I'm currently working on inferring the kinematics of JWST NIRSpec MSA mocks of TNG50 galaxies. I also work on understanding stochasticity of star formation at z > 6 using high-res cosmological zoom-in simulations developed in Heidelberg.

In my free time I love playing basketball, reading about niche history, biking, and making https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chai)!

Fun fact: My academic publications are actually "Ravishankar Anirudh" or "R. Anirudh" rather than my "full name" as my family name is 'fake' in a sense because it's just my dad's name! (See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_name#Tamil for a longer explanation)
